Board of Directors Update: Welcoming New Leadership & Celebrating a Legacy of Service

As our fiscal year comes to a close, we find ourselves at a meaningful moment of reflection and renewal. This year, we are thrilled to welcome four phenomenal women to our Board of Directors and saying “see you soon” to several incredible women who are completing their service on the board. Their leadership has shaped our mission, deepened our impact, and helped lay the foundation for everything that’s to come.

Deborah Morrone | Deborah is a long-time mentor with Woman to Woman Mentoring. She is an avid servant to her community and loves working with young women entrepreneurs.  As the founder and owner of Frederick Chiropractic Wellness Center, she works with people of all ages to help them improve their mobility, strength, and overall health and well-being. Deborah brings a heart for service and a deep commitment to educating and empowering others to live healthy, active lives.

Leshia Chandler | Leshia Chandler, M.S. is a dedicated human services leader with over 20 years of experience supporting children, families, and underserved communities. As Deputy Director and Local Management Board Director for Frederick County’s Division of Family Services, she leads strategic initiatives and partnerships to improve youth and family outcomes.

Monica Miles | Monica, whose name means “to advise,” has always lived up to it. She pairs her natural advisory and analytical skills with situational awareness and compassion.  Monica has passionately supported various volunteer endeavors, including the Junior League of Baltimore, the Frederick County Food Council, and as a repeat mentor with W2WM. Her leadership and strategic development roles span industries, providing a unique perspective and understanding that she particularly utilizes when supporting women.

Taryn Scafide | Taryn Scafide is a seasoned hairdresser with over 15 years of experience in the beauty industry. As a passionate entrepreneur, she has successfully owned her own business for the past three years and proudly opened her first salon, Headrush Studio, this year—a major milestone in her career. Taryn started as a mentee with Woman to Woman Mentoring and has continued to be involved with uplifting and supporting women ever since.

As we welcome new leaders, we also celebrate the women who are concluding their board service. Their contributions have been immeasurable.

Jill Browning | Jill, a lifelong Fredericktonian, began with Woman to Woman Mentoring as a mentor and has since championed the organization throughout the community. Her impact is felt across Frederick, touching the lives of countless women connected through her support.

Karen Justice | Karen was Woman to Woman Mentoring’s first employees and helped shape its foundation as Board Secretary. She remained closely involved over the years—as a mentor and board member—demonstrating unwavering dedication we deeply appreciate.

Kim Johnson | Kim joined the Woman to Woman Mentoring Board in 2016 after starting as a mentor. Over the years, she’s served as Clutch Committee Chair, Board Chair, Vice Chair, and Treasurer—always a passionate advocate for our mission.

Andi Overton, our outgoing Board President and longtime emcee of Clutch the Future, has served on the board for six years and continues to be a vital part of Woman to Woman Mentoring. Starting as a mentor, she has guided several cohorts of young women with compassion and insight. While she is stepping down as Board Chair, we’re thrilled she’ll remain on the Board of Directors, continuing to be a guiding light and advocate for women in Frederick.

Transitions like these remind us of the power of leadership and the importance of continuity. We are stronger because of the women who have served, and we are excited about the path ahead with our new board members.
