Executive Director, Tonya Hatosy-Stier Says “It’s Time To Pass the Torch”

As leaders of an organization empowering women to take action and move forward to pursue the futures that they envision for themselves, it is important to us that we exemplify these principals. With that in mind, it is with tears in our eyes and pride in our hearts that one of our leaders has decided it is time to take a different step for her and her family. Tonya will be passing the mentoring torch to a new leader of Woman to Woman Mentoring, Inc. Her last ‘official’ day with W2WM as the Executive Director will be August 30th.

Tonya, who began with the organization as a board member, has been a driver for the organization for more than a decade. Many of you learned of W2WM through Tonya. During Tonya’s tenure, Woman to Woman Mentoring became an official 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and added two new programs – the Women in STEM Program and Mentoring Circles while the CORE Program expanded exponentially. The W2WM community has grown to over 400 mentees, 250 mentors, and hundreds of community supporters. Tonya has been at the root of these efforts, and there is not enough applause to recognize her and her dedication.

“This is one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. It is one I have put a lot of thought into, and I am confident now is the time to pass the torch. I am proud of the work that WE, our Frederick community, has put into building Woman to Woman Mentoring. It takes a village to start, run and sustain a non-profit for more than a decade! I want to thank every single person who has given their time, talent and treasure to help us grow and serve women in our community. The ripple effect of your generosity will be long-lasting, way beyond my years here, I know it! We have such a strong, reliable, supportive, caring and committed village- our board of directors, our staff members, our volunteers and our funders who will carry on in support of our mission. I will forever be a supporter, connector and advocate for the work being done by Woman to Woman Mentoring. Xoxo, Tonya.”

Board Chair, Ashley Waters, will serve as Acting Executive Director during the transition. We are currently searching for our next Executive Director and will be sharing more as this process unfolds.
“There really are no words to express how much Tonya has done for Woman to Woman Mentoring and the women of the Frederick community. Tonya is a compassionate and honest maximizer that uses her whole heart to serve the women of Frederick,” shared Board Chair, Ashley Waters. “She always sees the potential – in our organization and in the women we serve. W2WM is a better organization because of Tonya’s leadership. We are forever grateful for all that she has done as a dedicated and grace-filled leader.”

While the news will take some time to settle with each of you, the community of W2WM will always be committed to you and the mission of this organization. Together, we all can work together as leaders to support women making connections, taking action, moving forward, and thriving. Thank you for being a part of W2WM!
