Celebrate Mentorship with Advice!

January is National Mentoring Month. This is a time dedicated to celebrating the power of mentorship, elevating the voices of mentors and mentees, and acknowledging how transformative a single, supportive relationship can be.

As we reflect on the journeys of the women within our organization, we consistently ask them one meaningful question:

“If you could give advice to a woman who may be thinking about joining Woman to Woman Mentoring, what would that be?”

Their answers are more than just testimonials. They are reminders of why mentorship matters, and why National Mentoring Month is such an important moment to honor the impact of guidance, support, and community connection.

“Stop thinking about it. Just Do It…

…I remember others would say “you should join” and I blew it, and it took me feeling for a desperate need for change or support that I finally joined it was truly life changing.” – M.T. CORE Mentee

“You don’t need to become a different person when coming into this program…

…be yourself, figure out what you would like from this program, and jump in.” – A.F. CORE Mentee

“If you can, get to know your mentor on a deeper level than just professionally…

…Yes, career advice is important, but you’ll be with this person for a period of time and can learn so much more from them.” – H.C. STEM Mentee

“Be honest about what you want to expect to get from this mentoring experience…

… because this will help the program find the best match for you.” – A.B. CORE Mentee

“The best thing you can do is show up as your authentic self. Mentoring isn’t about being perfect…

… it’s about being open to learning, making connections, and letting yourself be supported. This group is open, safe, and full of some of the kindest people you will ever meet.” – M.S. CORE Mentee

Hearing this, it’s pretty clear: mentorship is not about being perfect; it’s about showing up exactly as you are and being open to connections and guidance. This safe and supportive community is ready to meet you where you are.
