Woman to Woman Mentoring introduces Amanda Whitener as the new Executive Director

Woman to Woman Mentoring is pleased to announce Amanda Whitener as the new Executive Director. We are thrilled to incorporate her strengths and fresh perspective toward our strategic goals!

Amanda shares, “I have been dedicated to serving the needs of others for as long as I can remember. From my youngest days of washing dishes in my parents’ restaurant, I have taken extreme pride in helping others and contributing to the impact of a job well done.”

For over 20 years, Amanda has served in STEM-focused and informal education roles, most recently as the Head of Workforce Development with WorldStrides.  During that time, she focused on programs dedicated to helping young people find their passions through career exploration and supported numerous teams on their growth journey through professional and skill development.  Amanda enjoys the real-life connections that come from hands-on learning and places high value on the connections that people make while learning together.

“Amanda’s leadership experience and passion for community-building will help W2WM not only continue to advance our strategic goals, but also enable us to reach even more members of our community than ever before”, said Dr. Andi Overton, Chair of the Board of Directors.

Amanda holds a B.S. in Biology from Lake Erie College in Ohio and completed her Master’s work in Biology at Illinois State University. She most recently graduated with an Executive MBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology and looks to continue her lifelong learning journey wherever she can. A Maryland native, Amanda has deep family roots in Montgomery and Frederick counties. She currently lives in Gaithersburg with her husband, dog, and two ancient cats.

Amanda is excited to further the mission of Woman to Woman Mentoring by immersing herself in the Frederick community. She looks forward to working closely with the Board of Directors to advance their vision of connecting and supporting the women in Frederick and Carroll Counties.  Amanda begins her new role on October 2, 2023.
